As you might remember, there was a big frost in 2024, and they could only save 50% of their own vineyards with candles; so, it was like there were two different harvests for the 2024 Flor de Pingus. The part that suffered frost was riper and ripened faster, so they had to pick those grapes early to avoid too much alcohol because high alcohol interferes too much. They were very precise, handling the normal grapes and the secondary grapes differently. This vintage was also different because all the lots had 10% new barrels instead of having one lot all in new barrels. This is their village wine from La Horra, mostly Tempranillo with some 5% Garnacha fermented with indigenous yeasts in 4,000-liter stainless steel vats and matured in oak barrels, part in 2,000-liter oak foudres with around 10% new oak, for 14 to 15 months. It has some floral notes, but it's more austere than the 2023, not as flamboyant. It has ripeness and 14.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.8. It has a little more power than the 2023 that I also tasted next to it, with precise tannins. It's just a little too young, just bottled, but it still shows harmony. They produced some 90,000 bottles, less than in previous years. It was bottled in May 2026.
